A Relaxed and Intentional Wedding Photography Experience
Being photographed should feel relaxed, honest and completely true to who you are. My approach to wedding photography is natural and unobtrusive, allowing you the freedom to remain present with one another while I document the day as it unfolds.
I know that most couples are not used to being in front of a camera. You will never be expected to perform or pretend that I am not there. When a little guidance is helpful, I will gently position or prompt you in a way that creates space for real movement, connection and laughter. The intention is never to force a moment, but to help you feel comfortable enough for genuine moments to happen naturally.
Good wedding photography begins long before the wedding day. Communication and thoughtful planning are incredibly important to me. I will help you consider your timeline, the available light, sunset times and the natural rhythm of your celebration. This preparation allows you to relax, remain present and enjoy the experience without feeling as though your wedding has become one long photoshoot.
My approach combines documentary wedding photography with gentle guidance when it is needed. The traditional photographs matter, but the heart of a wedding often lives in everything happening around them.
It begins in the morning with the anticipation of what lies ahead. A parent quietly watching from the doorway, the laughter between friends while everyone gets ready, someone carefully fastening a dress, a handwritten letter being opened, the nervous pacing before leaving for the ceremony and the moment your family sees you fully dressed for the first time.
At the ceremony, it may be the deep breath before walking down the aisle, the expression on your partner’s face when they see you, a hand reaching for yours, a flower girl losing interest halfway through or the laughter that follows something wonderfully unexpected. It is the proud look from a parent, a friend wiping away a tear and the way your hands remain connected while you exchange your vows.
Afterwards, there are reunion hugs, glasses being raised, children running across the lawn, grandparents congratulating you and guests who have travelled across the world finally spending time together. It is your bridal party helping with your dress, friends fixing one another’s hair, someone stealing a canapé and the quiet moment you share when the excitement briefly settles.
During the reception, I look for the conversations happening around the tables, the squeeze of a hand during a speech, the laughter that fills the room and the secret tears that fall when nobody thinks they are being watched. I notice parents looking across the room at you, old friends reconnecting, children hiding beneath tables and the person waiting nervously for their turn to speak.
Later, it is shoes being kicked off, jackets disappearing, grandparents joining the dance floor, friends singing every word and that one guest bringing all the right moves. It is the spontaneous hugs, the champagne spilling, the cake being shared and the final embraces as the evening slowly comes to an end.
These are the photographs you may never have known were being taken. They become the memories that help you understand how your wedding felt beyond what you personally experienced. They show you the love that surrounded you, the moments your guests shared and the small pieces of the story that were unfolding while your attention was somewhere else.
I have been photographing weddings for more than fifteen years across Cape Town, the Cape Winelands and beyond. I still absolutely love what I do and never take for granted the trust a couple places in me. Your experience matters just as much as your photographs, and it would be an honour to capture your wedding story with honesty, care and intention.
If you are looking for a relaxed Cape Town wedding photographer who values natural moments, authentic connection and photographs that feel like you, I would love to hear more about your plans.

Canon Eos r body
Canon 28-70mm F2
Canon 16mm F2.8
What is the most important question after booking you?
Having a chat about your timeline for the wedding. I love that every wedding is different but knowing we are on the same page and have worked out timing that works for both of us allows me to capture the day the best I can.
How many pictures will I receive?
This depends on the package option you choose, but its between 300-800 images.
Are you available outside of Cape Town?
Yes I am, please take into consideration travel and accommodation fees :)
Do you do smaller photo sessions?
Yes, I do family, maternity, couple and lifestyle photo sessions.
For a couple getting married, this is a great option if one of you are shy or unsure of being photographed. You'll discover on this shoot that you can just be yourself.
How do we book you?
Head over to the contact me page at the top, I'd love to hear from you :)
What part do we play in the success of the pictures?
Be intentional about being yourselves and being present. Enjoy and live in the moment. Most people can overthink it, there are so many small moments that are happening and when you just let go and have fun, I have the opportunity to capture them.
Why is the sunset time significant?
The sunset time is important so that there is enough time for your ceremony, signing and congratulations (1 hour), time with guests (30min), family photographs (30min) and couple photographs (40-50min depending on client) before the sun sets.Have a look at your sunset time and make sure you get married at least 3 hours before the sun sets otherwise it will be dark outside!
How much does it cost for you to shoot my wedding?
It depends on the wedding package that you choose but it is between R18,000.00 and R30,000.00 excluding traveling and accommodation costs.
When would you recommend a second shooter?
If you would like photographs of your guests, weddings that have more than 90 guests would require a second shooter so that they can focus on those type of shots. I do take photographs of the guests during canapés and speeches so there will be moments of your guests without a second shooter, it just wont be very extensive.
Another reason would be if the groom would like photographs of his preparation before the wedding.
If I am able to work out the timing so that I can be with the groom and bride before the ceremony, and if you aren't getting ready too far from each other I can make it work and shoot it myself.
Do you have an assistant?
At this time, I am happy to shoot on my own without an assistant.
How do you feel about working with a videographer?
I am happy to work alongside a videographer. As long as the shooting style and approach is similar it can work.
Videographers that are not looking for moments but have specific shots they want to pose can break the natural and spontaneous flow and moments from happening and can effect what I am able to shoot.
I am happy to recommend videographers.
