Jenny and Tobias’s Intimate Montpellier Wedding in Tulbagh

Jenny and Tobias celebrated their wedding with their closest family and friends at the beautiful Montpellier Wine Estate in Tulbagh. Surrounded by vineyards, mountains, gardens and historic Cape Dutch architecture, Montpellier created a wonderfully peaceful setting for their intimate celebration.

The morning was filled with laughter, excitement and the best energy as Jenny prepared with her girls. Montpellier’s bridal preparation room is full of personality, quirky artwork and interesting details, but it was the incredible natural light that completely captivated me.

Jenny had the most beautiful glowing skin, and I loved watching the light move across her face while she prepared. One of my favourite moments was seeing her doing her own makeup in the mirror. There is something incredibly bold and personal about doing your own wedding makeup, and Jenny approached it with such calm confidence. Go Jenny!

Their ceremony took place inside Montpellier’s iconic hillside chapel. It offered a timeless and intimate atmosphere for their vows, with the vineyards and magnificent Tulbagh mountains surrounding them. Their guests arrived in the coolest truck, which brought such a playful energy to the day and made the journey to the ceremony part of the experience.

Montpellier also offers a beautiful forest ceremony setting for couples dreaming of an outdoor wedding beneath the trees. The forest has a completely different character, with soft light filtering through the branches and nature surrounding the ceremony. I would love to photograph more forest weddings at Montpellier, while the chapel remains a beautiful choice for couples drawn to its history, peaceful atmosphere and traditional charm.

There were so many meaningful moments throughout Jenny and Tobias’s wedding. I especially loved the blessing Tobias’s father shared with Jenny outside the chapel. The children ran freely through the venue, guests embraced one another and joy seemed to follow the couple everywhere they went. These are the honest, in between moments that give a wedding story its heart.
