Allert and Lauren’s Intimate Babylonstoren Wedding
I had been looking forward to Allert and Lauren’s wedding for such a long time, and their intimate celebration at Babylonstoren was every bit as meaningful as I had imagined. Their families would be meeting for the first time, which brought an added sense of anticipation and tenderness to the day. It was not simply the joining of two people, but the beginning of a new shared family story, unfolding in one of the most beautiful places in the Cape Winelands.
Babylonstoren is one of the oldest Cape Dutch farms in South Africa, set at the foot of Simonsberg in the Franschhoek wine valley. Its whitewashed farm buildings, elegant gables, lush gardens, vineyards and mountain views create an atmosphere that feels both historic and wonderfully alive. The gardens change with the seasons, offering endless layers of colour, texture and natural beauty. Photographing a wedding at Babylonstoren is always an absolute dream because every pathway, quiet corner and carefully considered space offers a beautiful backdrop without ever taking attention away from the people and moments at the heart of the day.
Allert and Lauren chose to celebrate surrounded by those closest to them, allowing the day to feel relaxed, personal and deeply connected. I loved capturing the moments between their families, the gentle excitement of the celebration and the joy of two worlds coming together for the first time. It was an incredible honour to tell their story and to preserve these memories of such an important beginning.
