Nieke and Schalk's Romantic Penhill Farm wedding in Worcester

Nienke and Schalk celebrated their wedding beneath the trees at the beautiful Penhill Farm, an enchanting wedding venue in the Nuy Valley just outside Worcester.

The forecast had promised clouds all week, yet their wedding day arrived with clear skies and the most beautiful light. Surrounded by mountains, established gardens and endless greenery, their intimate celebration with 38 guests felt private, relaxed and deeply connected to nature.

Penhill Farm is one of those rare Cape Winelands wedding venues where the natural surroundings and beautiful interiors work together effortlessly. Nienke prepared for the day inside the historic Cape Dutch Manor House, with its warm character, thoughtful interiors, beautiful furniture and abundant natural light. Every room offered another opportunity for photographs and made the preparation feel like an important part of the story rather than simply the hours before the ceremony.

One of the most meaningful details was that Nienke’s mother created her bouquet and the flowers for the reception. There is something incredibly special about wedding details made by the people who love you. They carry a beauty that goes far beyond the flowers themselves.

Their ceremony beneath the trees was intimate and heartfelt, followed by an afternoon filled with honest moments between the couple, their families and their closest friends. With such a small gathering, there was time for everyone to be present and for me to photograph the quieter exchanges as naturally as the laughter and celebration.

As evening settled over Penhill Farm, a row of exposed bulbs glowed above the reception tables. The warm light created the most beautiful atmosphere and transformed the space into something wonderfully intimate. It was a dream to photograph and perfectly suited the relaxed elegance of the day.
